August 9, 2010

That is the day I left Paris. I left my new friends, my new career, and my new boyfriend—all because of our favorite document we call the “visa.”

I was going to come back by November. That was already more than a year ago. Now, I’m happy to say that I’m returning in March 2012. After more than a year of working at a zero-respect job in Oakland, drinking too much in San Francisco, and finally finding my true self independent of anyone else, I am coming back to Paris! Back to delicious baked goods, back to seeing beautiful people everywhere, back to rude Parisians, back to Hausmann architecture, and back to the arms of the only man I want to be with <3

I’m also finally fulfilling my dream of going back to school for my Masters Degree in Industrial Arts.

Life is good.

Les Arènes de Lutèce (I finally went… even though it’s 5 mins from my apartment)
From Wikipedia.org:
The Arènes de Lutèce are among the most important remains from the Gallo-Roman era in Paris (formerly known as Lutèce in French or Lutetia in Latin), together with the Thermes de Cluny. Lying in what is now the Quartier Latin, this amphitheater could once seat 15,000 people, and was used to present gladiatorial combats.
Constructed in the 1st century AD, this amphitheater is considered the longest of its kind constructed by the Romans.

Les Invalides in the 7th arrondissement. I had a lot of time to kill between english tutoring sessions.
From Wikipedia.org (for the ones too lazy to paraphrase):
Les Invalides in Paris, France, is a complex of buildings in the city’s 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building’s original purpose. The buildings house the Musée de l’Armée, the military museum of the Army of France, the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, and the Musée d’Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of France’s war heroes, notably Napoleon Bonaparte.

Is that a baguepi baguette?!! Sigh…now the only thing missing is une tranche de gouda, du miel, et un peu de pâte d’arachide. Beginning January 24, I’ll be at Lidl stocking up.
